EYDAP Headquarters

The effectiveness and overall experience of employees within a constructed work environment are often determined by daily usage. This objective guides the architectural proposal for the new office facilities of EYDAP in an open architectural competition. The aim is to comprehensively understand the requirements and design a contemporary workplace structure.

The primary inspiration for this proposal was drawn from the historical path of EYDAP’s main mission – the water supply of Athens. The reservoir of Hadrian’s aqueduct in the Kolonaki region served as a functional and historical landmark within the Athenian water supply system. Few sources could provide a more fitting inspiration for accommodating EYDAP’s employees in a structure.

The ancient Roman Adrian tank has been translated into a modern office building that encapsulates future architectural values. The new building volume is founded on rectangular and cubic shapes, forming a long singular volume. Comprising of four above-ground floors and one basement floor, the building is further characterized by substantial recesses and plateaus on each floor, serving as open spaces for public relaxation. These features also enhance lighting and ventilation within the offices.

Three large atriums have been thoughtfully designed to provide ample natural lighting and ventilation, both outdoors and indoors. Inside the building, all spaces were meticulously designed based on EYDAP’s daily operational needs. The interior layout adheres to international workplace standards, optimizing work efficiency and quality of life. The result is a human-centric structure that prioritizes not only productivity but also the well-being of its workforce.

The architecture of a building mirrors the society it serves. The aesthetic approach of this “landmark” building reflects values that we aspire to characterize our society, as well as those that define the social contribution of EYDAP.
